こんばんは、皆様、三頌亭です。今日はキングのホラー小説論集をお持ちいたしました。最近ちくま文庫に入って復刊したので、この機会にということで再度掲載いたしましょう。だいぶのボリュームなので読むのに骨が折れるかというとこれが結構面白くてあっという間に最後までよめてしまいました。私がこれを読んだときに最も興味があったのは例えてていうと『どんなものを食ってあんなモダンホラー作家ができたのか？』ということでした。たぶんと思ってはいたのですが、ECコミックとB級ＳＦ映画のてんこ盛りwでたいへん興味深かったです。内容は10のカテゴリーに分けられてそれぞれに自分の体験を交えて大変面白い論評となっています。ちくま文庫版では下記のとおりです。このエッセイのもとになったのはキングの母校であるメイン州立大学のセミナーだそうです。前身が学校の先生だけあって意外によく整理されていて、読んだときはその分析能力に驚いてしまいました。
